Digital Dialogue Series 3 : Cybersecurity - Protecting Privacy Identity & Property
"Cybersecurity is a team sport. We are only as strong as our weakest link." This was one of the key outcomes of SERI's 3rd Digital Dialogue, focusing on #Cybersecurity. The discussion was graced by Dato' Dr Amirudin Abdul Wahab, CEO of CyberSecurity Malaysia, ACP Puan Siti Kamsiah of Polis Diraja Malaysia, Albert Chai of Cisco Malaysia, Danry Chin of NEC Malaysia, Ahmad Ridhwan Azizan of Roland Berger, and Ahmad Arif Astaman, Research Fellow at SERI.
Key takeaways:
1. Cybersecurity strategies must comprise people, process, and technology. No one person or entity has all the necessary expertise, and addressing cybersecurity requires a holistic multi-stakeholder approach and international cooperation Resources and skills must converge, and public-private partnerships are critical.
2. Cyber-insecurity can result in both financial harm and social harm. There is a need for increased awareness and prevention of #sexualexploitation. Children, parents, and caretakers must be equipped with #cybersafety tools and know-how.
3. Criminals are becoming increasingly sophisticated, resulting in the need for laws and law enforcement to evolve. Lawyers, judges, and policymakers must be trained in cybersecurity to ensure the drafting and implementation of just and effective laws and policies.
